The terms specified below concerning electronic vignette payment collection and records for the use of specified road sections are for information only.

Payment card is a payment tool issued by a financial institution that can be used to carry out a cash-free vignette payment. The list of payment cards accepted by the Vignette Payment Collection Administrator for the purpose of vignette payment can be found on the web portal.

The web portal is the website of www.eznamka.sk, which in several languages securely provides customers with the following services: cash-free payment of vignettes and bulk payment of vignettes using a payment card, issuance of Confirmations in electronic form suitable for print, verification of the period of validity of paid vignettes, receipt of requests, claims, suggestions and complaints by customers, and general information and information about the vignette payment obligation.

A vehicle subject to vignette payment is, pursuant to the provision of Section 2(1) of the Act, a two-track motor vehicle or a vehicle combination up to 3.5 tonnes and a two-track motor vehicle of M1 category regardless of the maximum technically permissible weight (hereinafter referred to as the "vehicle") and a two-track vehicle combination comprising a motor vehicle of M1 or N1 category regardless of the maximum technically permissible weight of the vehicle combination (hereinafter referred to as the "vehicle combination“), which is subject to vignette payment for the use of specified road sections marked by traffic signs where this vehicle or vehicle combination is not exempt from vignette payment pursuant to the provision of Section 7(1) of the Act.

A trailer is, pursuant to the provision of Section 2(c) of Act No. 725/2004 Coll. on the Conditions for the Operation of Motor Vehicles in Road Traffic and on amending and supplementing certain acts as amended, a road non-motor vehicle designed to be towed by another vehicle to which it is connected in a vehicle combination, and vignette payment is made for trailers of O1 and O2 category.

A vehicle exempt from vignette payment is a vehicle or vehicle combination that is, pursuant to the provision of Section 7(1) of the Act, exempt from vignette payment for the use of the specified road sections.

A vehicle operator (for a vehicle combination, "vehicle combination operator") is, pursuant to the provision of Section 2(am) of Act No. 725/2004 Coll. on the Conditions for the Operation of Motor Vehicles in Road Traffic and on amending and supplementing certain acts as amended, the owner of the vehicle or by him/her the designated holder of the vehicle registration certificate section 1 and section 2, who are recorded in the vehicle registration certificate section 1 and 2 and authorised to decide on the vehicle use, or the vehicle owner or by him/her the designated holder of the vehicle technical registration certificate, who are authorised to decide on the vehicle use.

A vehicle operator (for a vehicle combination, "vehicle combination operator") is, during the use of the specified road sections, obliged to ensure compliance with the obligation of the vignette payment pursuant to the provision of Section 4(2) of the Act.

A vehicle driver (for a vehicle combination, "vehicle combination driver“) is a driver who is authorised to drive the vehicle of the vehicle operator, which he/she certifies by presenting the vehicle registration certificate, the vehicle technical registration certificate or a similar document.

A vehicle driver (for a vehicle combination, "vehicle combination driver“) is, pursuant to the provision of Section 4(1) of the Act, obliged to pay for the vignette for the use of the specified road sections.

An operator of a vehicle exempt from vignette payment (for a vehicle combination, "operator of a vehicle combination exempt from vignette payment“) is a vehicle/vehicle-combination operator pursuant to the provision of Section 7 of the Act.

A Confirmation of vignette payment – simplified invoice or a Confirmation of vignette payment –  invoice are documents that include all the details specified by the relevant provisions of Act No. 222/2004 Coll. on Value Added Tax as amended for a simplified invoice/invoice and at the same time all the details specified by the relevant provisions of the Act for the Confirmation of vignette payment (hereinafter referred to as "Confirmation").

Confirmation of data adjustment is a confirmation of data adjustment in the vignette payment records made based on a request by the operator of a vehicle or vehicle combination.

A customer is a vehicle or vehicle combination driver who, pursuant to the Act, is obliged to pay for the vignette, or a vehicle or vehicle-combination operator who is obliged to provide for compliance with the vignette payment when using the specified road sections by the vehicle or the vehicle combination. A customer is also any other person who using the POSs, the Customer Service Line or our electronic channels (the web portal www.eznamka.sk and the mobile application for mobile devices "eznamka") is interested in issues related to vignette payment or intends to carry out or carries out a vignette payment for any vehicle/vehicles or trailer/trailers regardless of his/her legal or other relationship to this vehicle/vehicles or trailer/trailers.

A specified motorway section that may only be used after payment of the vignette is marked by the traffic sign “Motorway” and the traffic sign “End of the motorway”. The beginning of the specified motorway section that may be used without payment of the vignette is marked by the traffic sign “Motorway section without payment”. The end of the specified motorway section that may be used without payment of the vignette is marked by the traffic sign “Motorway section with payment”.

A Point of Sale with staff is a location that, in terms of vignette payments, provides the following customer services: vignette payments in cash and cash-free using a payment (bank) card, issuance of confirmations, provision of general information and information about the vignette payment obligation and the procedure for filing a claim. Also, using selected Points of Sale a change in the vignette payment records in case of a change in the licence-plate number of the vehicle/trailer or the country of the vehicle/trailer registration (i.e., the vehicle/trailer itself or the vignette type and validity do not change) and the receipt of requests and documentation for recording a vehicle in the list of vehicles exempt from vignette payment.

The mobile application is the application "eznamka", which in a secured manner in several languages provides the customers the following customer services, in particular: cash-free payment for vignettes using a payment card, issuance of Confirmations in electronic form suitable for print, verification of the period of validity of paid vignettes, receipt of claims, complaints and suggestions by customers, general information and information about the vignette payment obligation.

The Customer Service Line (Call Centre) is a telephone line that in several languages provides customers with the following services: verification of the period of validity of paid vignettes based on the vehicle/trailer licence-plate number, including dispatch of a confirmation email to the customer and repeated dispatch of the confirmation of vignette payment in electronic form to the customer; receipt of claims, complaints and suggestions by customers; and provision of information about the vignette payment obligation and the amount of vignette payment.

The Vignette Payment Collection Administrator is the Národná diaľničná spoločnosť, a.s. (the National Motorway Company).

Vignette validity means the period for which the vignette is paid. Pursuant to the provision of Section 2 of the Act, a vignette is paid for 365 days, 30 days, 10 days or 1 day regardless of the number of journeys made, and:

  • a 365-day electronic vignette is valid for 365 days including the day specified by the user of the specified road sections;;
  • a 30-day vignette is valid for 30 days including the day specified by the Customer;
  • a 10-day vignette is valid for 10 days including the day specified by the Customer,
  • a 1-day electronic vignette is valid until 24:00 on the day specified by the user of specified motorway sections

The day specified by the user of specified motorway sections is the first day of validity of the vignette. In the case of the 1-day vignette, it is the only day of its validity.
