The second most preferred type was the recently introduced 1-day motorway vignette, with 1.5 million vignettes sold. This was followed by the 365-day vignette, which was purchased by 1.2 million motorists, and the 30-day vignette, with 600 thousand vignettes sold. Most of the motorway vignettes – almost 1.5 million – were sold over the summer months of July and August.
Motorway vignettes were purchased mainly by Slovak drivers who accounted for almost half of all purchases. Almost one million vignettes were purchased by Czech drivers, representing an annual increase of around 6 %. Revenue from the sale of motorway vignettes to Austrian (by 13%) and Romanian (by 10%) motorists also increased year-on-year.
The growing interest in purchasing motorway vignettes was also driven by the expansion of the Slovak motorway network. Last year, NDS put four new motorway sections into operation, contributing to improved traffic flow, increased driver comfort, and reduced travel times.
However, the only official online channels for purchasing motorway vignettes online remain the www.eznamka.sk website and the eZnamka mobile app. Motorists can also purchase motorway vignettes at petrol stations or at Information and Sales Points located at motorway border crossings.
Since taking over the electronic vignette sales system two years ago, NDS has introduced several innovations: a new 1-day motorway vignette, a redesigned eZnamka website, and expanded payment methods that include Apple Pay and Google Pay. These changes have significantly increased customer comfort.
