The NDS online sales channels include the website www.eznamka.sk and the mobile application eZnamka. The use of the website for purchasing the vignettes is on the rise with the annual increase of motorway vignette sales via the website amounting to 23%. The annual increase of vignette sales via the mobile app amounts to 3%.
Even though the sale of motorway vignettes at Points of Sale fell by 4%, they still account for about one-third of all electronic motorway vignettes sold. The Information and Sales Points of NDS located at border crossings were among the top 10 most frequently used, with most of the motorway vignettes being sold at Brodské, Jarovce and Čunovo.
“In January 2024, we have taken over the entire system of electronic motorway vignette sales from the previous provider. During the first year of its operation, we have introduced several changes to the system. For example, we extended the possibility of postponing the start date of vignette validity by up to 60 days instead of the previous 13 days. We plan to further continue improving the system to the benefit of the users,” said Mr. Peter Braška, the Charging and IT Section Director of NDS.
Electronic motorway vignettes are purchased by drivers who intend to use the charged sections of motorways and expressways in Slovakia. It is recommended to buy the vignette before using any of the charged sections to avoid the risk of receiving an unnecessary fine. In particular, the drivers who last year bought the so-called 1-year vignette with validity until 31 January 2025 should not forget to get a new motorway vignette, if they plan to use the charged sections of Slovak motorways and expressways after 1 February 2025. As the 1-year vignette is no longer offered by NDS, the 365-day vignette is the closest available alternative.
