The end of the school term and the summer vacation period are here, and we would like to take this opportunity to kindly remind you that buying a motorway vignette is as important as getting the luggage and travel documents ready. The start of the summer holiday season has for a long time been a period with the most fines recorded for driving without a valid motorway vignette. The fine itself can rise up to 200 EUR. Therefore, Národná diaľničná spoločnosť, a.s. (National Motorway Company, hereafter referred to as “NDS”) recommends purchasing the motorway vignette before hitting the road. The most practical option when travelling for vacation is the 10-day vignette, which is 10 % cheaper in comparison to last year.
The electronic motorway vignette can easily be purchased online at https://eznamka.sk or using the mobile app eZnamka. The drivers can also buy the vignette at petrol stations and Information and Sales Points located at motorway border crossings. “We highly recommend the drivers to purchase the motorway vignette using the official sales channels of NDS, as the prices of vignettes offered by various resellers tend to be much higher than the prices set by law,” said Peter Braška, the Charging and IT Section Director of NDS.
The drivers can choose from several types of electronic motorway vignettes. However, if they do not use the Slovak motorways regularly, the most favourable option is the 10-day motorway vignette, which is cheaper than last year and costs 10,80 EUR. Drivers can also choose a 1-day vignette (8,10 EUR), a 30-day vignette (17,10 EUR), or a 365-day motorway vignette (90 EUR).
As of January 2024, NDS has taken over the entire system of electronic motorway vignette sales from the previous supplier and, since then, has introduced several updates, the most important one being the creation of the new 1-day vignette. Currently, NDS plans to launch the redesigned www.eznamka.sk website and aims to continuously improve its services in the future
