As of August 1, 2024, motorway bypasses of several cities in Slovakia will be exempt from motorway charges. It means that a total of 200 km of motorways will be made available to drivers without the need to purchase the motorway vignette. This change aims to relieve the traffic overload in bigger cities and to redirect the transit traffic from the city centers to the bypasses.

Národná diaľničná spoločnosť, a.s. (National Motorway Company, hereafter referred to as “NDS”) is continuously working on updating its motorway vignette sales system. Since taking over the system under its management, several changes have been introduced to improve user comfort and simplify the purchase of motorway vignettes.

(National Motorway Company, hereinafter referred to as “NDS”) would like to remind drivers who use the Slovak motorways and expressways only occasionally not to forget to buy a motorway vignette. If they do not have a valid electronic motorway vignette, getting a 10-day vignette for the duration of the Easter holidays at a price of 10.80 EUR might be a reasonable solution (its price has been reduced from 12 EUR in 2024).

2016. január 1. óta csak elektronikus autópálya-matricát vásárolhatnak az autósok.

A rokkant parkolókártyával rendelkező autósok 2015-ben a díjköteles autópálya- és autóútszakaszokat ingyenesen vehették igénybe. Ez 2016-ban is így lesz.

The 10-day vignette was the most frequently purchased motorway vignette so far in 2026, with 506 thousand units sold. This represented one third of total sales for the given period. The second most popular was the 365-day vignette with 455,000 units sold; followed by the 1-day vignette with 324,000 units sold; and the 30-day vignette with 113,000 units sold. Overall, 1.4 million vignettes have been sold so far in 2026.
